Pakistan 2006
In 2006 I went back to Pakistan to attempt Gasherbrum II, a day's walk from Broad Peak and K2. The weather was great and the climbing straightforward, so over 120 climbers reached the summit that year. On my summit day a Spanish climber fell and somersaulted by me at 7700m. He somehow landed on the only patch of flat ground around which prevented the obvious end to such activities. He had no obvious injuries, the other climbers around had no ropes to lower him, so the other climbers went on their respective ways. I checked in with the Spaniard and his partner on my descent from the summit and he was much better (camping gear had been sent up for them). He recovered with minor injuries.

We marched out over the Gondogoro La. Someday I'm going to do that trek at a nice slow pace!
